This year, ISO officially released the international standard ISO 2078:2022 glass fiber yarn code, which was revised by Nanjing glass fiber research and Design Institute Co., Ltd. This standard is an international standard on the product code of glass fiber. It stipulates the definition, name and code of all kinds of glass fiber, and is the basis of global glass fiber production, application and trade. This revision lasted for three years. Through full research on the production and application of global glass fiber products, the performance and production data of various products were collected, summarized and sorted out. In the standard, several new glass fiber varieties, such as high silica glass fiber, quartz glass fiber and basalt fiber, which have gradually increased in output and application in China in recent years, were added, and accurate and reasonable definitions and codes were given, And the code of a glass fiber thermoplastic composite yarn is added.
The revision of the international standard widens the scope of glass fiber types, fills the blank of the corresponding standards of glass fiber thermoplastic composite yarn, enriches the diversity of glass fiber reinforced products, and provides technical support for the application of glass fiber products and the development of the industry in the world. By adding Chinese characteristics and advantageous products to international standards, Chinese products are introduced into the international stage from the source, driving China’s glass fiber products and industries to go abroad and go international, further expanding the world influence of China’s high-performance glass fiber industry and enhancing China’s international voice.
